The Hyundai Venue Just Got More Expensive: Big Price Hike!

Hey everyone, Prakyat here! If there’s one topic that gets Indian car buyers talking right now, it’s the ever-rising cost of our favourite compact SUVs. When you think you have your budget perfectly planned out, a manufacturer quietly drops a price revision.

This time, it’s Hyundai.

Hyundai India has just rolled out a price hike for the Hyundai Venue, making several variants of the popular sub-4-meter SUV pricier by up to ₹20,000. But before you panic and rethink your booking, don’t worry—the overall price bracket of the Venue remains unchanged at ₹7.99 lakh to ₹15.51 lakh (ex-showroom).

Not all variants have been hit equally. Some have been spared, while others took the brunt of the hike. Let’s break it down, Autocritic style, so you know exactly what you’re paying for!

The 1.2L Naturally Aspirated Petrol: The Biggest Loser?

If you were eyeing the mid-spec 1.2 Petrol HX5 MT, you are looking at the biggest jump in the entire lineup. Hyundai has bumped the price of this specific variant by a solid ₹20,000, taking its new ex-showroom price to ₹9.55 lakh.

The good news? If you want the entry-level HX2 (₹8.00 lakh) or the higher-spec HX6T (₹10.80 lakh), those prices remain absolutely unchanged.

The 1.0L Turbo-Petrol: A Slight Bump

For those who love the punchy 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, the hike is relatively minor. The price bumps are entirely restricted to the DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) models:

  • HX5 DCT & HX6 DCT: Spiked by ₹9,000 (Now ₹10.90 lakh and ₹12.16 lakh, respectively).
  • HX8 DCT: Spiked by ₹5,000 (Now ₹12.99 lakh).

Autocritic Good News: If you were planning to buy the aggressively styled Venue N Line, you are in luck! Hyundai has completely spared the N Line variants from this price hike.

The 1.5L Diesel: Consistent Hikes Across the Board

Diesel compact SUVs are a dying breed, but the Venue’s torquey 116hp 1.5-litre diesel engine remains a massive favourite among high-mileage drivers.

Hyundai has slapped a flat ₹8,000 price hike on almost all the manual and entry-level automatic diesel variants, including the HX2, HX5, HX5 AT, and HX7. However, if you are splurging on the top-tier diesel automatics—the HX8 AT or the fully-loaded HX10 AT (₹15.51 lakh)—your wallet is safe, as those prices are untouched.

The Autocritic Verdict: Does this change anything?

Price hikes are practically a seasonal tradition in the Indian auto industry right now. A ₹20,000 hike on a specific mid-spec variant is annoying, but it shouldn’t be a dealbreaker if you’ve already set your heart on the Venue.

The Venue still offers one of the most refined and feature-rich experiences in the sub-4-meter segment, especially with the punchy turbo-petrol and the ultra-smooth diesel AT options.

What do you guys think about this price hike? Will this make you consider rivals like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, or the Kia Sonet instead? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments!
